Adopting a rescue dog from SDRR
The UK side of SDRR is run by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers who will be delighted to help you through the adoption process which is:
If you see a dog that you are interested in adopting, or are just interested in general, in the first instance please can you complete and return an application form.
We will review all applications received and if successful, a member of our volunteer home check team will call you for an informal chat,
We will talk through the home check form and find out more about you, your lifestyle etc. (This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.)
After your homecheck we will review the form and if successful we will be in contact to show you dogs that have been matched to your family.
We will arrange a visit with the dog you are interested in adopting. We ask for a minimum of two visits, including taking any dogs already in the home for a walk together to see if they get along.
After ongoing conversations and if everyone agrees,we will check you have everything needed in the equipment list and we will send you an adoption agreement to sign and return to us. We will also ask for the adoption fee to be paid in full.
Once the adoption fee is paid and the signed contract returned we will make arrangements for you to collect your new family member, we will also transfer the microchip details to yours and send you confirmation by email, and lastly you will be invited to join our Facebook furever after page.
PLEASE NOTE;
The adoption contract that you sign when homing one of our dogs includes a clause that if you need to surrender the dog, you will do so only to us. We hope you will persevere with any problems you may experience in the early days and we will support you with advice about any issues that arise. We also hope you would not surrender the dog for a trivial reason. We provide full rescue back up for all our adopted dogs and like to keep in regular touch with all our dogs to check on their welfare.
